We often see business owners scratching their heads as they cannot think of any ideas for corporate events that haven’t been done to death. The reason many of them have, is simply that they work and are successful , however, if you want to organise a corporate event which is somewhat unusual then here is a list of no fewer than 10 you could try.
#1 Themed Gala Dinner
Having a gala dinner that is themed is great way to turn what would otherwise be just another dinner into something special. The theme options are endless, with some to think about, including ’50s Rock & Roll’, ‘Rio Carnival’, ‘1930s Chicago’, and ‘Star Trek’.
#2 Pop Up Vending Machine
Admittedly this might not work for every product or service, but it can bring tons of publicity for your business, is a lot of fun for staff, and the ”vending machine’ you set up in the shopping mall can simply be a mock one created by your marketing team to look like one.
#3 Axe Throwing
This is a fun event where everyone gets to throw axes at targets with the most accurate scoring the highest number of points. This event can last for the full day as other than the actual axe throwing competition there are other team building activities that your group will benefit from.
#4 Scavenger Hunt
This can be done with large or small groups and can be as basic or as high-tech as you like. Basic will involve maps and written clues, with the high-tech option utilising geocaching and GPS receivers.
#5 Food Wars
An event designed to get your staff working in teams as their challenge is to prepare, cook and serve food based on a specific category. It could be pizza, curry, salad, or simply snacks. If you know anyone who is a chef you could ask them to advise the teams and maybe even judge the winner.
#6 Board Game Marathon
This is often done to raise money for charity and sometimes to generate some local publicity. It is a great corporate event to bond your team as they play a marathon session of popular board games for 12, 18, or even 24 hours non-stop.
#7 Make A Movie
Why not see if there is a budding Martin Scorsese in your group by challenging them to create a mini-movie of up to 15 minutes in length. They need to script it, film it, appear in it, and edit it themselves although you should state what the theme of the movie should be. The most fun would be a comedy, but the choice is yours. You should also have a team night out with your own version of the Oscars.
#8 Mini-Olympics
A day of playing weird and wacky games could constitute your company’s own version of the Olympics. The more unusual the games and sports you play the better. For larger groups split them into teams or ‘countries’ and see their competitiveness, as well as their teamwork, come to the fore.
#9 Escape Room
A great event to get your staff working together as teams and honing their communication and problem-solving skills. Their task is to solve multiple puzzles and tasks in order to escape from the room they are locked in.
#10 Skydiving
For the thrill seekers in your team a day skydiving can be the ultimate corporate event, especially if you let them ‘throw’ you out of the aeroplane first. Definitely exciting and another great opportunity for your team to bond.
